He entered United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on April 26, 1942, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater; he was killed in action on February 6, 1945, at Luzon, PI; buried in North Trinity Church Cemetery, Glenwood, North Dakota.
