Circumstances:
He was captured by the German Army in Anzio, Italy in February 1944. He was imprisoned at Stalag 2B in Germany, although he spent much of his time working at a local farm. He marched over 600 miles west across Germany before he was liberated by the U.S. Army in April 1945.
