Carl Vicktor (Victor) Person was born in Valhalla, Wells County, North Dakota on July 28, 1922, to Carl August "Gust" (Persson) Person and Caroline Barby. He entered the United States Army in Fort Lewis, Washington on December 4, 1942. Private First Class Person served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater and was killed in action on April 14, 1945, in Firenze Nova, Citta Metropolitana di Firenze, Toscana, Italy. He received the Purple Heart and is buried in Plot A, Row 5, Grave 5, Florence, Citta Metropolitana di Firenze, Toscana, Italy.
