Daniel Henry Sullivan was born on August 7, 1920, in Grand Forks, Grand Forks County, North Dakota to Daniel Edward Sullivan and Myrtle Zelma Ellis Sullivan. He married Lucille Mary Naastad. Staff Sergeant Sullivan died on April 2, 1945, in France and has a grave marker at Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avoid, Département de la Moselle, Lorraine, France, Plot D, Row 17, Grave 25. His gravestone is located at Calvary Cemetery, Grand Forks, North Dakota. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart awards.
