Registered Rolette county. Born, Bedford, Mo., Sept. 4, 1896, of American parents. Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in the Navy at Rolla on Dec. 12, 1917. Served at Naval Training Station, Great Lakes, Ill., to May 3, 1918; USS Frederick, to Oct. 13, 1918; Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, N. H., to death. Grades: Apprentice Seaman, 51 days; Seaman 2nd Class, 270 days.
