Died of pneumonia, on April 2, 1919, at Base Hospital No. 87, Toul, Meuse.

Remains returned to U. S. on May 23, 1921, and buried in Grave 1770, National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Name included on the All Veterans Memorial at State Capitol in Bismarck ND.

Biography:

Registered Stutsman county. Born, Jamestown, N. Dak., May 7, 1893, of American parents. Occupation - locomotive fireman. Enlisted at Fort Snelling, Minn., on Sept. 13, 1917. Served in Company D, 21st Engineers, to Feb. 13, 1918; Company C, 21st Engineers, to death. Overseas from Dec. 26, 1917, to death. Engagements: Offensives: St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive Sector: Toul (Lorraine).
