Biography:

Harold Douglas Ellingson was born on December 29, 1918, in Mohall, Renville County, North Dakota to Gilbert and Marie (Mary) Amanda (Thompson) Ellingson. He entered the United States Army on December 2, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Technician 4C Ellingson was married to Bernice Crystal Kjonaas (Sorbo) on December 20, 1941, and was killed in action on February 20, 1945, in Saag, Passau, Bavaria, German.  He is buried at Florence American Cemetery and Memorial, Florence, Italy, Plot E, Row 5, Grave 41. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star awards.
