From DPAA:

On November 5, 1968, one American civilian and one British civilian were traveling by jeep from Qui Nhon to Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Saigon. The two men planned to drive on Route 1 but never arrived at their intended destination. Eventually, it was reported that the men were stopped south of Phan Rang and abducted by an enemy unit. They were held for few days in a secure area before being moved on foot toward the enemy's military region headquarters. While underway, the two attempted an escape but were recaptured, shot and killed by their enemy escort, and buried. Attempts to locate their remains were unsuccessful.

Mr. James Edward Simpson of North Dakota was employed by Decca Aircraft Navigation Systems, Inc. He was the American civilian in this jeep when it was stopped, and he remains unaccounted for.
