Biography:

John (Jack) McCoy Davenport was born in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota on May 14, 1923, to Ward McCoy Davenport and Irene Clara Farney Davenport. He entered the United States Navy in Chicago, Illinois on May 11, 1943. His overseas service theater is unknown. Ensign Davenport was killed in action on September 12, 1945, South of Oceana, Virginia (Fruitville, Currituck County, North Carolina). He is buried in Lot 102, South Park Addition, Block Z, Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota.
