Biography:

Leander William Ege was born on November 24, 1917, in New England, Slope County, North Dakota to Frederick Joseph Ege and Elizabeth Mary (Lizzie) Loesch Ege. Technician Fourth Grade Ege served in the African, Italian, French, Germany, Austrian Theatres and was engaged in Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, and Central Europe Campaigns. He was killed on August 6, 1945, in Wels, Austria and is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery and Memorial, Plot F, Row 14, Grave 31, Saint-Avold, Departement de la Moselle, Lorraine, France. He received Bronze Star award.
