Biography:

Lowell Donald Johnson was born in Ruso, McLean County, North Dakota on June 19, 1926, to Oliver and Hilda Kjelberg Johnson. He entered the United States Navy and was killed in action on April 5, 1945. Seaman First Class Johnson is memorialized at the Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, Courts of the Missing and is memorialized at the Ruso Cemetery, Ruso, McLean County, North Dakota. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart awards.
