Biography:

Philip Jacob Schneider was born in Glen Ullin, Morton County, North Dakota on November 29, 1916, to Mathias Schneider and Anna Schlatter. He entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on April 9, 1941, and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Sergeant Schneider was killed in action on October 21, 1943, in Alife, Provincia di Caserta, Campania, Italy. He is buried in Plot 7, Row 9, Grave 1, Section 31, Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Glen Ullin, North Dakota. He received the Pre-Pearl Harbor, the European Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Purple Heart and Cluster, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star.
