Biography:

Robert James De Vol was born in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota on February 13, 1925, to Harry Byron De Vol and Mary Elda Weber Henderson. He entered the United States Marine Corps in San Diego, California on September 25, 1943, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Private First Class De Vol was killed in action on February 19, 1945, in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He is buried in Grave 754, Section A in National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii. He received the Purple Heart.
