Circumstances:
Died while in MIA status. Killed during a mission near Koepang, Dutch Timor on a B-24D aircraft. The flight encountered heavy flak enroute to the target, and as the crew left the plane amid a shower of bullets from Japanese attackers, it exploded and engulfed the crew with it. No trace of any survivors was ever found.
