Biography:

William Ogden Ward was born in Bismarck, Burleigh County, North Dakota on June 15, 1910, to Birlea (Burleigh) Oscar Ward and Mae A Wallace and he was married to Kathryn Charlotte Schmidt on January 16, 1937. He entered the United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 26, 1942, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.  Second Lieutenant Ward was killed in action on April 19, 1945, in Okinawa, Japan. He was reburied from overseas (96th Division Cemetery, Number 1, Ryukyu, Retto) on March 2, 1948, in Block 22, Section 5, Grave 12900, Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
