Joseph Sherman, Jr.

Biography:

Joseph Sherman, Jr. was born in Benson County, Fort Totten, North Dakota on April 22, 1895, to Joseph and Alice Iawastewin Sherman. Occupation - Laborer. Inducted at Minnewaukan, North Dakota on March 12, 1918, Private Sherman was sent to Camp Greene, North Carolina and served in Company B, 58th Infantry, 4th Division (Regular) until he was killed in action. On May 6, 1918, he was sent overseas and on May 23, 1918, he was on the Moldonia transport which was torpedoed and all went down and his body was not recovered.
