Enlisted in Company I 1st Infantry North Dakota National Guard at Wahpeton on June 2, 1917. Called into Federal Service, World War, on July 15, 1917. Serviced in Company I 1st Infantry North Dakota National Guard (Company I, 164th Infantry) to January 13, 1918. Company H 26th Infantry to death. Overseas from December 15, 1917 to death. Engagements-Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon. Engagements-Offensive: Aisnemarne. Defensive Sectors: Ansauville (Lorraine); Cantigny (Picardy).

Overseas from December 10, 1917 to death. Wounded, severly on October 4, 1918.
