Not a registrant, under age. Born, Hanover, Ill., Sept. 21, 1897, of American parents. Occupation - rancher. Enlisted at Fargo on Dec. 7, 1917. Sent to Camp Hancock, Ga., Served in Aviation Section, Signal Corps, Kelly Field, Texas, to Dec. 15, 1917; Casual Company No. 1338, Signal Corps, Camp Hancock, to March 23, 1918; Company G, 30th Infantry, to death. Grades: Corporal, July 22, 1918; Sergeant, Sept. 9, 1918. Overseas from April 2, 1918, to death. Engagements: Defensives: Aisne; Champagne-Marne. Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne.
