Not a registrant, enlisted prior. Born, Benson, Minn., Aug. 12, 1891, of (nationality of parents not given). Occupation - farmer. Enlisted in Company F, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard, at Mandan, on May 12, 1917. Served in Company F, 1st Infantry, North Dakota National Guard (Company F, 164th Infantry), to Jan. 18, 1918; Company I, 26th Infantry, to death. Overseas from Dec. 15, 1917, to death. Wounded, gassed, June 9, 1918. Engagements: Offensives: Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse-Argonne. Defensive: Montdidier-Noyon.
