John Melvin Spencer was born Monroe, Amherst County, Virginia on November 24, 1925, to Charles Melvin Spencer and Eva Susie Weeks Spencer. He was a resident of Sheridan, Mercer County, North Dakota when he entered the United State Army, Fort Snelling, Minnesota on March 30, 1944.  He served European African Middle Eastern Theater in Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands. Private First Class Spencer was killed in action on February 24, 1945, in Germany.

born Northfield, Minnesota July 27, 1924; resident Divide County, North Dakota and he entered United States Army at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 4, 1944, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Private Sorenson died in service October 26, 1945, in Springfield, Missouri and is buried in Lakeville Grove Cemetery, Lakeville, Minnesota.
