Lt. Allen was reported missing when his plane was shot down by enemy aircraft during the Battle of the Coral Sea. He was awarded a Navy Cross for the defense of his carrier and a Gold Star for the action in which he lost his life.

Born Dodge ND (Dunn County) June 30, 1920. Resident Burleigh County ND when entered US Army at Ft. Snelling MN on April 1, 1943. Served in European African Middle Eastern Theater. KIA 11 April 1945. Member 313th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division. Buried at Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial. Name included on the All Veterans Memorial State Capitol Grounds Bismarck North Dakota under the county of Dunn. From Memorial American Battle Monuments Commission for the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial.

Alvin Palmer Anderson was born on December 20, 1920, in Buffalo, Cass County, North Dakota to John A and Ingeborg (Inga) Anderson. He joined the United States Army on February 16, 1942, and was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama. He died in Belgium on January 8, 1945. Private First Class Anderson is buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial in Hamm, Canton de Luxembourg, Luxembourg, Luxembourg, Plot E, Row 9, Grave 24. He received the Purple Heart award.

Anderson was a left waist gunner. Buried at Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial.

Ernest Lloyd (Ernie) Anderson was born on April 1, 1919, in Leonard, Cass County, North Dakota to Carl L and Mattie Helen Listad Hendrickson Anderson. First Lieutenant Anderson was killed in action on August 31, 1943. His aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft fire and crashed while bombing the German airfield at Lille/Vendeville, Département du Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. Buried at Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial, Margraten, Eijsden-Margraten Municipality, Limburg, Netherlands, Plot P, Row 4, Grave 11. He received the Purple Heart.
