James G. Fair

Biography:

James George Fair was born in Rolla, Grand Forks County, North Dakota on June 15, 1917, to James George and Nellie Rowena Fair. He entered the United States Army on October 20, 1940, in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota and served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Private Fair was killed in action on January 11, 1945, during the Battle of the Bulge in Ottre-Bihain Arrondissement de Bastogne, Luxembourg, Belgium. He is buried in Grave 14586, Block 26, Section C, Ft Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.  

Donald B. Fair

Donald B N Fair was born in Rolla, Grand Forks County, North Dakota on April 7, 1921, to James George and Nellie Rowena Thompson Fair. He grew up in North Dakota and was a 19-year-old student majoring in theater at the University of North Dakota, when, shortly after Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the United States Army, on February 12, 1942.

Lester A. Erickson

Biography:

Lester Allen Erickson was born in St. Maries, Idaho March 5th, 1925, the second child of Mary and Albert Erickson, my mother, Marjorie Emma, being the first. Albert was working as a logger in Idaho,, his preferred work since he began at an early age to support his widowed mother. When Albert and Mary were back in Minot to visit Mary's sister Annie and her husband Merrit Warner, Lester fell from a fence and fractured his femur. This fracture was treated with a long spica cast and it meant that his parents could not return to Idaho.
