Orlo D. Anderson

Biography:

Corporal Orlo Anderson was born in Marion, North Dakota, on October 7, 1917, to Mr. and Mrs. Minius Anderson. He was a resident of Sargent County, North Dakota when he entered AUS Ft. Snelling, Minn on July 7, 1942. On November 24, 1944 he was on a Beechcraft AT-11 Kansan #41-27522 that flew to Lake Charles Army Airfield, Louisiana on an instructional flight. While returning to base at Bryan, Texas, the aircrew encountered instrument flying conditions. Then the starboard motor quit, and the pilot trimmed the airplane for single engine operation and dove to a lower elevation.

Martin J. Anderson

Biography:

Private Martin J. Anderson was born in Camlachie, Ontario on December 12, 1920, to William G. and Ina M. Anderson. He was a resident of Cass County, North Dakota when he entered the Canadian Army on June 13, 1941, in Camlachie, Ontario. He was killed in action on October 23, 1944, in an unknown place and his remains were not recovered.

Garth H. Anderson

Biography:

Staff Sergeant Garth Anderson was born Grace City, North Dakota on July 10, 1920. He had 1 brother and 3 sisters and was a resident of Burleigh County, North Dakota when he entered the USMC Ramsey County, North Dakota on April 9, 1942. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater for 21 months when he contracted a disease of the tropics and was sent to the Klamath Falls Barracks in Oregon where he died on December 20, 1944, due to the disease. He is buried in Plot 16, Row 1, Grave 12, Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, Devils Lake, North Dakota.
