Private First Class Dyer was killed in action on February 23, 1945, in Merken, Kreis Duren, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany and is buried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Henri-Chapelle, Arrondissement de Verviers, Liege, Belgium, Plot D, Row 14, Grave 19. He received the Purple Heart.
