Edward W. Wallmann

Biography:

Edward William Wallman was born on August 20, 1909, to Emil Otto and Mary Louise "Marie" Schultz Wallmann in Lidgerwood, Richland County, North Dakota. He entered the United States Army on January 25, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota.  On November 8, 1943, the Thirty-seventh landed on Bougainville, the largest of the Solomon Islands, joining up with the Third Marine Division, which had launched the initial assault a week earlier.

Henry Warcken

Biography:

Henry Warcken was born on September 14, 1921, in LaMoure, LaMoure County, North Dakota to George Warken and Mary Wirth. He entered the United States Army on February 16, 1942.

William G. Warcken

Biography:

William George Warcken was born on September 14, 1921, in LaMoure, LaMoure County, North Dakota to George Warken and Mary Wirth. He entered the United States Army on February 16, 1942. 

Carl B. Wasness

Biography:

Carl Bernhart Wasness was born on February 21, 1907, to Erick Olai and Randina Wasness in Aneta, Nelson County, North Dakota. Private First Class Wasness was killed in Hatten-Rittershoffen, Department du Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France. This was the second phase of what is known as the Battle of the Buldge. The first attacks launched in Belgium on December 16, 1944, had the objective of the Port of Antwerp. The second phase, known as Operation North Wind by the Germans had the objective of recapturing Strasbourg.

Donald I. Wasson

Biography:

Buried at North Africa American Cemetery. Received Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Lloyd J. Wedwick

Biography:

Lloyd Juell Wedwick was born on May 17, 1914, to Lars E Wedwick and Julia Graftaas Wedwick in Osnabrock, Cavalier County, North Dakota. He served in the United States Army registering on October 16, 1940, and was killed in action. Sergeant Wedwick is buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery and Memorial, Hamm, Canton De Luxembourg, Luxembourg. Memorialized at Dovre Cemetery in Alma Township, Cavalier County, North Dakota. He received the purple heart.
