Career Description




Sign Shop Foreman: Supervise shop and field duties, inventory, budget, guardrail and lighting. Thorough knowledge of Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Check workload, assign duties. Check inventory. Be able to be flexible to change workload as assigned by superiors. Review work. Conducts evaluations. Supervise and Maintain Inventory: Check all supplies and costs used for damage claims. Knowledge of supplies, hardware, etc. Keep records of inventory up-to-date for audit. Guardrail, Installations and Crash Devices: Knowledge of traffic control devices, installation and repair. 2) Operation of tractor, backhoe, boom truck, various tools needed to replace or install. Traffic Lights, Highway Lighting: Knowledge of lowering and raising tower lights safely. Maintains supply needed to repair lights. Minimum knowledge of electrical wiring. Highway Markings: Have patches painted daily, supply of tape on hand to distribute to sections. Ability to follow plans on markings. Manual, Blueprints, Highway Plans: Keep up with all changes in MUTCD. Ability to read highway plans, etc. Maintain knowledge of sections, accident trouble areas in district. Maintain good communications with supervisors, engineers, contractors and suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or GED and five years of experience in the repair and installation of traffic control devices. Must possess a valid Class B driver's license, non-air brake restricted on the first day of work.Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment. Employment is contingent upon passing the medical screening process.
