Maj. Eugene Starke, 37, husband of the former Jean Matson and son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Starke, rural Valley City, was the victim of a boating accident at Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Starke and their four children have been visiting here this week with her brother, Kenneth Matson, local photographer and the Starke family. The Starkes were leaving Little Rock, the major's transfer to the Air Force SAC base at Omaha, Neb., being made at this time. Major Starke had been a B-58 pilot. Details of the accident were not immediately available, but early reports indicated three men were in the boat.

James McAleer III was born in 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pa. and attended school in Pennsylvania and the State School of Forestry in Bottineau, North Dakota. In September 1966, he enlisted in the Army. After assignment to the 101st Airborne in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, he was sent to Vietnam where he served with the 92nd Assault Helicopter Co. He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, Steele, ND.

Greg was the son of Howard and Evelyn Lunde. He had one sister, Antoinette. He attended schools at Rugby and Landa and graduated from Westhope High School in 1964. After high school, Greg attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis and worked for the railroad for a short time. In 1966 he returned to Westhope to work with his father in a meat processing plant before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is buried in Westhope Cemetery, Westhope, ND.
