Louis F. Murphy
Biography:
Louis Fidelis Murphy was born in Grand Forks, Grand Forks County on August 10, 1917, to Louis Fidelis Murphy and Clara A DiCaire. He entered The United States Army Camp in Mullis, Texas on February 20, 1940, and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Captain Murphy was captured in the Southwest Pacific Theatre, Philippine Islands. He was a Bataan Death March survivor and prisoner. He was listed on the roster of men from the hellship "Oryoku Maru" who were transported from Manila on December 13, 1944, to Fukuoka, Japan, POW Camp #1.

Biography:
John Alexander Murphy was born in Culbertson, Roosevelt County, Montana on May 9, 1926, to John (Jack) P. Murphy and Mary Houle Murphy. He was a resident of Benson, Ramsey County, North Dakota and entered the United States Marine Corps in Omaha, Nebraska on November 10, 1943. Private First Class Murphy served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and died in service on February 23, 1945, in Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Japan.
