Medical Marijuana for ND Veterans
Veterans Affairs is a federal agency and must follow federal laws. ND Veterans using the VA Healthcare System will not receive a prescription from a VA doctor for medical marijuana as it is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law.
ND Veterans who use the VA Health Care System may gain access to medical marijuana to treat certain debilitating medical conditions. The veteran must provide a copy of 12 months of his/her VA treatment notes for the claimed debilitating medical conditions in place of a doctor's recommendation.
