Herman C. Diede

Biography:

Corporal Herman Diede was born in Antelope, North Dakota on March 14, 1920, and attended the rural school in his home community and graduated from Hebron High School in 1938. He attended the Dickinson State Teachers College in 1939 and joined Company K of the National Guard. In 1941 he left with Company K for Camp Claiborne, La., and went overseas to New Caledonia and was last heard from on Guadalcanal.  He is buried in Plot C, Grave 1611 in the National Memorial of the Pacific, Hawaii. 

Wallace J. Demery

Biography:

born Kenel, SDak 23 Aug 20; resident Sioux County, Nook; entered AUS Bismarck, NDak 6 Apr 42; served European African Middle Eastern Theater; died in service 20 Oct 44 in Northern Ireland; buried in Section 12, Grave 982 at Arlington, Va.

Biography:

Biography:

Leroy C. Deede

Biography:

LeRoy Clifford Deede, born 5 February 1916 in Woodworth, N.D., enlisted in the Naval Reserve 2 July 1937 in Pensacola, Florida, and was appointed a Naval Aviator 21 September 1938. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his outstanding service while commanding a PBY during a bombing attack on a Japanese naval force in Jolo Harbor, Sulu, Philippine Islands, 27 December 1941. With his plane crippled after splashing an enemy plane which tried to down him Deede crash landed at sea where he and his crew could be rescued.

Virgil Y. De Camp

Biography:

Major Virgil De Camp was born in Batesville, Arkansas on Sepember 4, 1918. He was a resident of Cass County, North Dakota when he entered the US Army in Harvey, North Dakota on February 10, 1941. 

During World War II he was a 1st Lieutenant and served the European African Middle Eastern Theater.
